Open Heart Eight : Love and Forgiveness* - Call for Art

Take your broken heart, make it into art – Carrie Fisher A community group show open to all 2d, 3d, interactive and performing artists. The show is for March at The Ink People Two Street Art Lab with reception at Arts Alive! on March 4 from 6 to 9 pm. Drop your art at 527 2nd Street (Vance Hotel street level) in Eureka $3 entry fee (suggested donation to cover the cost of reception) and 30% commission on all sales. Art does not have to be for sale. *The Open Heart Show about Love and Forgiveness was founded by Megan W. DeAngelo with The Ink People Center for the Arts, KEET-TV, and the Fetzer Institute.

"Changing Energy Landscape in California"

HSU's Sustainable Futures Speaker Series presents a free public lecture by Mallik Angalakudati: “Changing Energy Landscape in California,” at 5:30 pm, Thursday 3/2/17, in FH 118 on the HSU campus. Mallik Angalakudati serves as Vice President, Corporate Strategy at PG&E Corporation. In this role, Mallik works closely with PG&E senior leadership to develop utility and holding company strategies. Prior to this role, he oversaw investment planning, resource management, strategy, process and quality excellence and contract management functions as Vice President, Gas Business Performance Management. Mallik came to PG&E with more than 15 years’ experience in the energy industry.

"Julius Casear"

The play follows the story of both the rise to power of Julius Caesar and of the death of the ancient Roman republic. The central drama of the play focuses on the struggle between the conflicting demands of honor, patriotism and friendship. Inspiring Girls

Begins Saturday, March 4 2017 at 6:00 PM

To celebrate International Women’s Day, North Star Quest Camp presents the third annual Inspiring Girls exhibition. artwork by campers and staff. The opening reception during Arts Alive!, Saturday March 4th 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Kinetic Museum Eureka includes an open mic and zine release party. Come out and share how women have inspired you. “Show and Go” Open mic signups at 6:00 p.m. performances at 7:00 p.m.. Intermission music DJ Spaceman Spliff. Brews by Mad River Brewing Company. Annika Bäckström

The Fortuna Concert Series presents soprano Annika Bäckström accompanied by pianist Shaunna Eberhard. The evening's performance is entitled “SONGS OF THE WINDS OF THE NORTH” and is a selected presentation of Scandinavian solo vocal literature and other songs in honor of our ancestors, the old ones and those who have gone before us. Concert is at the Fortuna Monday Club, 610 Main Street in Fortuna.
