Promoting Alternative Fuels/CA’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard

HSU's Sustainable Futures Speaker Series presents a free public lecture by Sam Wade, “Promoting Alternative Fuels Under California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard,” at 5:30 pm, Thursday 3/30/17, in FH 118 on the HSU campus. As Chief of the Transportation Fuels Branch at the Air Resources Board (ARB), Mr. Wade oversees rule development and implementation of the Low Carbon Fuel Standard. In prior positions with ARB, Mr. Wade contributed to the inception of California’s cap-and-trade program, authored portions of the 2008 AB 32 Scoping Plan, and served as ARB’s deputy director of legislative affairs.

HSU's Sustainable Futures Speaker Series presents a free panel discussion titled “Bringing Electricity Service Under Local Control: Implications of Humboldt County's New Community Choice Energy Program,” at 5:30 pm, Thursday 4/6/17, in FH 118 on the HSU campus. The panel features Jim Zoellick, Senior Research Engineer, Schatz Energy Research Center; Matthew Marshall, Executive Director, Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA); Shawn Marshall, Director, LEAN Energy US; and Shehzad Wadalawala, Client Services, The Energy Authority; with Kevin Fingerman, Assistant Professor, HSU as moderator. They will discuss the RCEA’s upcoming Community Choice Energy program for Humboldt Co.

LUMINESCENCE: A Dance Concert

Humboldt State University Theatre, Film and Dance presents Luminescence: A Dance Concert Luminescence is a dance concert with choreography by HSU Dance students and faculty. A rich and exciting variety of dances capturing the luminescence of bodies through motion. Context within the dances ranges from compassion for the world's refugee crisis to childhood memories to women's empowerment to flashy and fun musical theatre. Commercial Building Control Systems and Energy Management

HSU's Sustainable Futures Speaker Series presents a free public lecture by Mary Ann Piette: “Commercial Building Control Systems and Energy Management: Current Challenges and Future Directions,” at 5:30 pm, Thursday 4/13/17, in FH 118 on the HSU campus. This presentation will discuss research related to issues in controlling energy use in commercial buildings and new opportunities with model predictive control. Mary Ann Piette is the Director of the Building Technology and Urban Systems Division and has been at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory since 1983. She is also the Director of the Demand Response Research Center.
